Family Secrets and the untold history of animation are uncovered in Tal Michael's illuminating, award winning documentary.

When Didier Frenkel was exploring the basement of his late uncles' shared home, the last thing he expected was to uncover a key link in cinema's history. Unbeknownst to Didier, his uncles, Frenkel brothers, were pioneering creators of extraordinary Egyptian animation reminiscent of the early works of Walt Disney.

Their heart-warming creation Mish-Mish Effendi, like so much of cinema's past, had been lost to time despite being one of the most influential pieces of Middle East entertainment. Didier's discovery now gives new life to Mish-Mish, but also that of a burried family trauma and Egypt's cultural history that had erased the animators' masterpiece from history.
