A conversation with the filmmakers of the documentary "Into the Storm" as well as members of the Sarasota community. Moderated by John Timpe of Booker VPA.


The panelists:


Coach Al Baker (Tornadoes basketball team coach) - Coach Al Baker finished his career coaching at Riverview in 1973 and taught into the 1990s before retiring in Sarasota.


Nate Butler (Tornadoes player) - Nate Butler went on to become a star football player at the University of Wisconsin. He’s worked and lived in the state since.


Sheila Sanders (student protestor / organizer) - Sheila Sanders continued to stay active in community protest, joining a lawsuit that changed the political landscape of the city. She also worked at The Ringling Museum library.


Lindsey Jennings (student filmmaker) is a student at the Ringling College of Art + Design.


Fredd Atkins (student protestor / organizer) served Sarasota as a three-term mayor and the longest-serving city commissioner.


Dr. Rachel Shelley Is the principal of Booker High School and winner of the 2017 state principal of the year and 2019 Florida Art Education Association principal of the year.


Hugh Yancy (Tornadoes player) went on to play professional baseball and Is an active community member, including for the cause of social justice in Sarasota.
