As a team, Liza Colón Zayas - David Makes Man (Mighty) and Elizabeth Rodriguez - Orange Is The New Black (Leti) are a force of nature. They inspired me to write a piece honoring their wonderful, decades long friendhsip and to capture their oversized, expressive personalities. I started spending time in Idaho around 2009 and I return at least once a year. I love it there. Like the two women in the film, I’m from the city and street lights were on day and night in my neighborhood. The first time I saw the vast night sky in Idaho, I was overwhelmed. I know the feeling of discovering part of the human experience you didn’t even know existed. A dark sky full of stars is so different from a city skyline. As products of their environment, Leti and Mighty similarly become humbled by their new surroundings. They begin the film as tough, urban women, but slowly their perspectives shift and they soften. This film is about the strength of female friendship–the force of which can get you through the most dire times with grace and humor. -Lola Glaudini
