Let’s face it: most divorces bring out the worst in people. In this darkly comic example of a divorce gone awry, the couple are fighting over the house and the pooch, but it’s our wannabe divorcee’s mother, played by Gabrielle Rose, who steals the show. Ms Rose has been one of BC’s preeminent character actors for years, but in this one, she gets one of her juiciest roles yet, as a meddling Mom who wants a cut of her successful daughter’s divorce settlement.

Director Bruce Sweeney burst on the scene in the late 90s with a trio of fresh norm-busting features: LIVE BAIT (1995), DIRTY (1998), and LAST WEDDING (2001). Camille Sullivan, Gabrielle Rose and Jeff Gladstone all appeared in Bruce’s 2018 film KINGSWAY. With SHE TALKS TO STRANGERS, Sweeney returns to classic form, finding humour in the dark pain of conjugal separation, while inventing a meddling mother character that will not soon be forgotten.
