How do you define resistance and what does it look like in your day-to-day life? Plant medicine braided into the hair of my African ancestors was resistance. Hiding the images of indigenous deities in the hollow spaces of Christian and Catholic saints was resistance. And reclaiming and adapting ancestral wisdom to our current lived experience is part of our generation's resistance. Through magick, indigenous medicine, and ancestral wisdom folx throughout the world are thriving outside of a western framework, and are redefining what thriving means. Tools of resisting and dismantling oppressive systems, like whiteness and capitalism, can be taken from protests to your kitchen, and from your kitchen to your bedroom.

How so?

In remembrance of the attacks on Black, Indigenous, and people of color I will be holding space to share and celebrate the magickal tools we use in our day-to-day lives that we can also resource as protection and amplification in our fight to dismantle oppressive systems and unpack our own internalized biases and shame. We will walk through what tools we are already utilizing and how to honor them more, map out pathways of connecting with our ancestors while also healing generational trauma, and how to traverse our spiritual journies while actively reducing the harm of appropriation, microaggressions, and spiritual gaslighting that regularly occur. We will close the circle with a protection spell to amplify the collective’s prayers to end the tyranny of whiteness. Together we can be each other's resources and mirrors in decolonizing our mind.
