ABOUT THE FILM:When Ali and Oliver meet, it seems like love at first sight. But because Ali is Muslim and in the closet, it’s not as simple as boy meets boy. As Oliver starts to wonder where their relationship can go, Ali must choose between the love he wants and the family and faith he has. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:Muneeb Hassan, born in Karachi, Pakistan, began writing and directing plays at age 7. His Brooklyn College thesis film, We Just Met, won Best Student Film and Best Editing at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, and Best Screenplay at the Chicago International Screenwriting Festival. Muneeb's short films have screened internationally and aired on New York television. He associate produced The Nearest Human Being (Amazon Prime) and produced the Danish documentary short "Left in a Box". His latest short film, All The Men I Met But Never Dated, is completed and has begun its festival run.

Featuring Dylan Mulvaney, Chani Nicholas, and other cultural changemakers, and executive produced by Jodie Foster. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:Alex Hedison is an internationally acclaimed photographer, artist, director and actor. Hedison has exhibited in galleries throughout Europe, the US, and Asia. Her photographic work is in public and private collections worldwide. Her acting career spans numerous television roles, including a pivotal character in the cultural phenomenon The L Word. A critical voice in both the artistic and LGBTQ+ community, Hedison directed the short documentary film ALOK, featuring Alok Vaid-Menon. This thought-provoking documentary short explores compassion as a catalyst for social transformation and inspires viewers to embrace personal freedom beyond the binaries that divide us.

ABOUT THE FILM:Amma's Pride chronicles Valli's trials and tribulations as she watches her trans daughter Srija fall in love, marry, and fight for state and societal recognition of her marriage in a traditional small town in South India. When societal pressures push Srija’s marriage to the edge, Valli clings to the hope of a miracle. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:Shiva Krish began his career as an assistant director on the Tamil feature film "Oru Naal Iravil". Volunteering during the Chennai floods of 2015 connected him with several local nonprofits, which in turn sparked his interest in documentaries. After that, he made short documentaries on demonetization in India and schizophrenia in collaboration with nonprofits. He was the first assistant director in the acclaimed Amazon Prime documentary series “Harmony with A.R. Rahman". “Amma's Pride” is his first independent documentary short, and he hopes to direct narrative films soon.

ABOUT THE FILM:A snapshot of life long friends Carrie (Sofia Hublitz; Ozark) and Rae (Madison Hu; The Brother's Sun, The Boogeyman) as their relationship crumbles at the seams. In their safe bubble of Northern New Jersey, the friends have hit their breaking point on Rae’s eighteenth birthday. Crossing paths years later, in the queer paradise that is Fire Island Pines, the friends are no longer. Dealing with themes of adulthood, queer identity, female friendship and mortality, Brain Freeze tackles two formative moments in adolescence otherwise overlooked: the friends who fade away. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:Kelsey Comeau has come up working as a co-producer, associate producer and director's assistant. Her work has spanned from working on comedy specials such as Nightclub Comedian and Right Now to television, Master of None: Moments in Love and feature films such as Being Mortal and Good Fortune. She's overjoyed to make her directorial debut working with Hublitz and Hu on such a personal story.

Brain Freeze

Lifelong friends, Carrie and Rae confront their gray area friendship as they come of age.

ABOUT THE FILMIn the 1950s, Grace and her older sister spend every summer at their grandparents’ house down South. Now that she’s 16, she’s made to follow her family’s religious tradition and get baptized. When Grace learns that a repentance is required before the ritual, she begins to question the budding romantic feelings she has for her best friend, Louise. Shot on 16mm film and set within a fleeting summer in the Black American South, Grace exists in conversation with many works of art created in the Black Southern Gothic genre. This time though, it’s through a queer lens that explores the interiority of a Black queer girlhood. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:Natalie Jasmine Harris is a Black queer filmmaker from Maryland passionate about telling coming-of-age stories. Her short film, Grace, premiered at The 2024 Sundance Film Festival, and her NYU thesis film, Pure, received The DGA Student Film Award and was acquired by HBO. Natalie is a 2024/2025 Sundance Ignite Fellow and has participated in artist programs with Film at Lincoln Center, GLAAD, SFFILM, Outfest, and more. Her work has been featured in publications including Teen Vogue, The Baltimore Sun, and The Huffington Post.

A 1950s Southern teen questions her faith and sexuality on the eve of her baptism.

ABOUT THE FILM:In 2003, history was made when a Newsweek cover asked: “Is Gay Marriage Next?” Now in a post-Roe world, the question resurfaces with a haunting twist: is gay marriage next—to go? Emily Clark’s short documentary artfully navigates the ebb and flow of LGBTQ rights in America. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:Emily Clark is a queer documentary filmmaker. She grew up in Philadelphia, but luckily escaped the accent. After graduating from American University, she moved to NYC where she discovered the ad industry. This eventually led to directing award-winning branded content and making festival-worthy short docs. She wants to see more diversity in the film industry and on screens in her lifetime, and is currently pitching her short as a proof-of-concept for a series about thanking people who changed your life without knowing it.

ABOUT THE FILM:Elliott discovers his father on a hookup app while on a family vacation. His confrontation with his alcoholic father's infidelity becomes a reckoning with himself and his own demons. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:Filmmaker duo Grant Conversano and Adam Conversano are queer siblings from Concord, North Carolina. They are both alumni of the UNC School of the Arts Filmmaking program. In 2020 they founded their production company, Apple House Pictures. Most recently they were awarded the Davey Grant For Emerging Filmmakers and were featured in Brooklyn Magazine’s “50 Most Fascinating People in Brooklyn.” Their films have played at Hollyshorts, Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival, Davey Fest, Austin Film Festival, Denver Film Festival, and RiverRun Film Festival. Their work has been distributed online by PBS, NoBudge, Directors Notes, and Short of the Week.
