This film has a pre-recorded Q&A with the filmmakers following the program.

Synopsis: What would you do if the most important person in your life is slowly but surely slipping into madness? What if that person happens to be your mother? That’s the dilemma facing straight ‘A’ student Melanie, who dreams of leaving home to study pre-med thousands of miles away. Facing the prospect of losing her daughter, Dawn, already fragile having lost her husband, begins to display cracks in her emotional armor. The intimate bond between mother and daughter, authentically portrayed by Lili Taylor and Stefania LaVie Owen, places Melanie in a difficult position as her mother’s madness takes over and she is faced with making perhaps the most painful decision of her life. PAPER SPIDERS probes the dual realities of truth and delusion. This is a story of resilience, setting painful boundaries and overcoming challenges. A bittersweet score weaves through this gripping and deeply affecting story of the devastation caused by mental illness.
