At the heart of Peruvian mining, a group of women fight for recognition in a historically male-dominated industry. From the freezing heights of La Rinconada (Puno) with Julia to the dusty roads of Arequipa with María and the lush jungle of Madre de Dios with Vilma, this documentary travels through the country’s most challenging regions to shed light on the reality of women miners.

Through their voices and experiences, we uncover their daily struggles: inequality, sexism, precarious working conditions, and the lack of legal recognition. But we also witness their resilience and unity, embodied in the creation of a National Network of Women Miners, a space where they find support and strengthen their fight.

The documentary not only brings us closer to their stories but also explores both sides of the issue, confronting their testimonies with the government's perspective. To what extent do public policies address their needs? Is real change possible in the mining industry?

Through a deep and human journey, DUST AND DREAMS reveals these women's fight for justice, equality, and a future where their work is no longer invisible.
