Maurice Oniang'o
This is a film about the Ogiek community, an indigenous hunter-gatherer community that live and depend on the Mau forest for their livelihood. The film explores the connection between the community’s culture, the preservation and conservation of the forest. It is told through the director’s experience having traveled to the forest and stayed with a family of Memusi Ngusilo, the vice chairperson of the Ogieks Council of elders for three days. The point of the film is to highlight on the rich culture of the Ogiek community and create awareness of their conservation efforts and the challenges that they face.
