Native communities high in the Andes combine traditional teachings and scientific sophistication to preserve their drinking water: beautiful rushing streams poisoned by the acidification and release of heavy metals caused when climate change-fueled retreat of the mountain glaciers expose rocks to the air for the first time in thousands of years.

This film, by one of our younger filmmakers this year, is about some of our older subjects: a group of neighbors from Chippewa Falls who started protesting against war 20 years ago (then it was Iraq) and who still gather every week on the street to do the same.

Honk for Peace

There is, unfortunately, no end to anti-war protesting.

Whether dogs go to heaven is an absolutely important question to the young protagonist in this film, and her well-meaning (and well-played) pastor doesn't really help her get closer to the answer. Through her dog, she struggles with similar questions about herself and her deceased mother.

Heaven Forbid

This is a modern adventure film. Antarctic Voyage follows a scientific expedition to South Georgia island, blending adventure with visual poetry. Filmmaker Kevin Schreck captures breathtaking polar landscapes and charismatic wildlife. This documentary offers insights into Antarctica’s unique ecosystem and its current state, appealing to nature enthusiasts and anyone fascinated by Earth’s remote wonders.
