FILMS FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH SHOWN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE JCA

When Tamar Manasseh decided to set up a presence on her Chicago block, she did so as a mother and neighbor, who wanted the gun violence to stop. Six years later, the organization she founded MASK (Mothers and Men Against Senseless Killings) is credited with plummeting violence in that neighborhood, Manasseh is a transformational figure and a community leader who is often sought out for commentary on stopping gun violence. She’s penned op-eds for the New York Times discussing the realities of Chicago inner-city life and has a regular column in Forward, where she examines her faith and experience as an African-American Jew.


Brad Rothschild, who produced and directed They Ain't Ready for Me is an award winning producer and writer with both a creative and a business background.  Brad produced the award-winning documentary feature, Kinderblock 66: Return to Buchenwald, the documentary film African Exodus, about the plight of Israel’s African refugees and the documentary film Tree Man, about the people who come to New York City to sell Christmas trees every holiday season. Tree Man won the Audience Award at the St. Lawrence International Film Festival. He is currently directing a documentary film about Raoul Wallenberg.
