Nowhere else on Earth is changing as rapidly as in the polar regions. Some animals will keep pace with the changes, while for others, these might be their last moments captured on film.

Greenland boasts the second-largest contiguous ice sheet. Lars Pfeiffer manages to capture unique footage of entire narwhal groups.

Polar bears are specialized in pack ice, where they hunt their main prey, seals. Increasingly, these heavy animals are observed plundering bird nests, displaying surprising agility as they climb steep mountains and cliffs.

Other climbers are the muskoxen. As the ice sheet melts, new food sources with fresh greenery emerge.

The changes also present opportunities and risks for the Inuit. Their culture is rooted in hunting on pack ice, with some still using small canoes for whaling today.
