8 films in package
Ghost Protists
A protist is an organism like the algae that inspired Anna Atkins to create the first book of cyanotypes in 1843. Here, they are transformed into a protest against the colonial violence that enabled their creation.
Headshot
A meditative essay film ruminating on image-making and the historically fraught relationship that Black Americans have with the camera and the land.
Бабушка Галя и Дедушка Аркадий (Grandma Galya and Grandpa Arkadiy)
A jovial and dreamy rumination on love. On time passing. On what we collect, what we hold on to, and how we maintain connection to homeplace, to ourselves.
Moon Moth Bed
A surreal, short film about mindfulness and metamorphosis. Inspired by Donna Haraway's ecofeminist theory, this live-action film features Luna moths emerging into an ethereal dreamworld.
What Humans Do
A macro view of human-actions, as told from within a singular body.
When the Camera Wasn't Running
A young girl from New Orleans dreams of celebrating her birthday during the weekend of Hurricane Katrina.
Longing for light
Through a radically personal look, the director explores Barcelona and its light. The sun as a brush that naturally highlights the intimacy of the rooms, friends, lovers and the people around her: her chosen family.
in the interval
Both an intimate family portrait and a cinematic collage of Black and trans collective memory and (be)longing, this film meditates on themes of safety, bodily autonomy and generations of compounding loss across time and media.

Shattering expectations of what a film “should” be, this experimental shorts block explores pockets of joy in the mundane, it reflects on collective consciousness and the choices that shape us. Utilizing techniques that range from archival Super 8 footage to hand-drawn biodegradable ink and paper animation and everything in between, this collection affirms that not all things need defining.

A jovial and dreamy rumination on love. On time passing. On what we collect, what we hold on to, and how we maintain connection to homeplace, to ourselves.
