Fran, a 17-year-old trans girl, lives with her mother, Marie, who makes a living as a seamstress. Their small living room is often cramped with clients, commissioned uniforms, and dresses her mother has sewn. When it gets too busy, scrap fabrics remain littered on the floor until Fran comes home from school and helps around by tidying up. But her mother forbids her to touch the sewing machine. By day, Fran helps her mother with her work after school, cleaning up scrap fabric from the floor. However at night, Fran collects pieces of fabric to make something to make her feel beautiful in -- her prom dress.
