From the restored flow of the Klamath River to the cold waters of San Francisco Bay and the farthest reaches of a changing planet, this program explores the powerful connection between people and water. Indigenous youth paddle a newly undammed river in a journey of healing and renewal. A tight knit community of swimmers finds belonging in the icy ocean. Across the globe, innovators at the frontlines of climate resilience reveal that hope is already in motion. Together these stories show how water carries culture, connection, and the promise of change.

With the Golden Gate Bridge as the backdrop, seasoned open water swimmers brave the frigid waters of the San Francisco Bay for a n exhilarating swim in the cold waters. While the health benefits of a cold plunge have been clearly documented, it’s more than the spike in dopamine that attracts these swimmers - it’s the tight net community.  A community that came together during the pandemic seeking a new place to swim and continues to thrive long after. It gives new meaning to the phrase “the ocean connects us all”- AB
