Director Anna Baumgarten delivers an emotionally compelling and moving film with her debut feature film, Disfluency. Based on the short film of the same name, which was featured at Pittsburgh Shorts in 2019, the film finds a young woman, Jane, returning to her family’s lake house after failing her final college class. As she works to come to terms with the trauma that derailed her senior year, she finds herself in a position to help a former classmate facing a challenge of her own, while also reconnecting with old friends. In the process, Jane, wonderfully played by Libe Barer (Sneaky Pete), discovers that the process of healing is quite possibly a never-ending journey.

Winner – Jury Award – Best Narrative Feature – 2021 Austin Film Festival

Disfluency is exactly the film that it needs to be with one of 2021’s best performances from Libe Barer and an Independent Spirit worthy directorial debut from Anna Baumgarten.” – Richard Propes – TheIndependentCritic.com
