About The Filmmaker

Kandis is an emerging writer/director living in Los Angeles, CA. Although her primary interest is narrative, she views documentary as a necessary tool for increasing awareness of marginalized communities and preserving history and culture. Often blurring the lines between genres and forms, her style can best be described as creative non-fiction. She received her B.A. in Creative Writing at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA; followed by an M.F.A in Film and Media Arts at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. While at Temple, she earned certificates in Teaching in Higher Education and Entrepreneurship. In addition to developing her own projects, she currently works at Warner Brothers Animation after spending five years at DreamWorks Animation and an independent documentary production company, Night Fire Films.
