In this block of short films, we see the stories and hear the voices of folks from the LGBTQ+ community and their allies. Each of these films showcase complex characters, deep dreams/goals and powerful stories from our fellow community members. The revelations released in each film of this program allow our characters to progress and see the path ahead of them.


This short block of films is available for streaming to U.S. audiences only, between August 12-21, 2022.

Between reality and animation, the story of Nidhal is told, a young homosexual Tunisian who defended individual freedoms in Tunisia through his work in radio. He found himself under a lot of pressure which forced him to leave the country and seek asylum in the Netherlands.


About the Filmmaker



Bassem ben Brahim, Queer film director, pronouns ( She,He). Graduated in image design, Higher Institute of Fine Arts, Nabeul Tunisia ISBAT 2017, 2019 Bassem got his Master in editing from the school of audio visual and cinema Gammart ESAC. He is doing his master of research in the same school. He has directed two animated films; Chromophobia and The Red Fish in 2019 around the issue of gender and sexuality. Bassem is also a co-founder of GenderBetounsi or LGBTbetounsi Project, a project on gender culture through the art of animation, painting, with the Kamel Lazaar Foundation KLF, and UNDP.
