The Zurich Ballet's Swan Lake, a beautiful classic, transports the audience to a magical world. Ballet is not simply a way of telling the story; rather than gestures asking to be deciphered, the choreographer of this production, Heinz Spoerli, created large-scale, visionary movements closer to an artistic language and plays on the whole spectrum of human emotions. Enjoy Tchaikovsky’s music, performed by the Zurich Opera Orchestra, the poetry of the set, the use of light and color, the texture of the costumes.

Though she's human, she's haunted by swan form. Her arms often move with the powerful shapes of swan wings and her feet flutter like wingtips. The 1877 ballet ends with Siegfried ripping off one of Von Rothbart's owl wings, stripping him of his power and breaking the curse. Siegfried and Odette then happily marry.
