Absent Now the Dead was released in Los Angeles on the Laemmle Cinema Streaming Service two days after the January 6th, 2021 insurrection against the peaceful transition of power in the United States. The film was presented at the Rhetoric Society of America Conference in June 2022, with papers focusing on its anti-demagogic theme.
