These films represent some of the best of Saudi filmmaking, reflecting the creativity, culture, and humor of the Saudi people. We want to bring these films to American audiences who are intrigued yet often misinformed by the media about Saudi life and values. These filmmakers represent the future of Saudi film and offer a look at its independent film scene American audiences would otherwise not be privy to.

These films were all screened as part of past editions of the Arab Film Festival presented by the Arab Film and Media Institute with the exception of NOUR SHAMS which is a new film highlighted as part of this event.

Egg Rebelled

A man tries to make his usual breakfast, but a strange egg spoils his day and makes it a grueling struggle in which the hero tries to break the egg in various ways, but after his failure discovers a strange surprise.

About the filmmaker

Sultan Rabea's interest in films began in childhood, as they formed an escape from reality to different worlds. Sultan made his first short film after studying in the US and realized his passion for directing. He left to Panama afterward to focus on developing writing and filmmaking skills. Some months later, he moved to England where he started working as a freelance videographer shooting commercials and events. Upon returning to Saudi, Sultan started his career as a full-time filmmaker.
