In late 2020, the Center for Media & Social Impact issued a potentially game changing report called “Breaking the Silence: How Documentaries Can Shape the Conversation on Racial Violence in America and Create New Communities,” which focused on a series of community screenings and conversations held in conjunction with the Independent Lens documentary ALWAYS IN SEASON. With an eye toward practicable takeaways, this illuminating panel discussion presents the report’s major findings and discusses how some of the project’s key aspects can be incorporated into filmmakers’ future projects.
