The Almeda fire burned over 2,800 structures in just a few hours, leaving two towns decimated and thousands without a home. Many of those most affected were Latinx and low-income communities. This film takes a look at the shared experiences of the day of the fire as well as the long-term individual struggles of recovering from such a loss. At the core of this film is a question: how do we come together and rebuild with equity? Directors statement: Nisha Burton Having grown up in Southern Oregon, the fires that happened directly impacted my friends and community members. Therefore, not making a film about this didn't feel like an option. Being so up close to this process made it clear that rebuilding takes years, not months, and oftentimes those most affected are also those with the scarcest opportunities to rebuild. At the same time, I felt inspired seeing how this community came together in such challenging times.
