At 15, feminist icon and activist Ani DiFranco was an emancipated minor and an already-rising star of the Buffalo coffeehouse scene. At 19, she founded her own record label, Righteous Babe, to maintain artistic control against the corporate dominance of the 1990s music industry. Drawing on abundant '90s archival footage and intimate access to Ani's creative and personal life, director Dana Flor traces an artistically evolving, ardently self-evaluating portrait of the rebel prodigy who remains "DIY all the way" to this day.
