ASIFA HELLAS - Hellenic Animation Association's Anthology

The Greek animation is celebrating 75 years of existence! Together with ASIFA Hellas, Animatricks International Animation Festival 2021 is screening a collection of Greek animated films created by women directors. The program duration is one hour. The program starts with a short greeting from the ASIFA HELLAS - Hellenic Animation Association.

The program is free of charge and available only during the Animatricks festival days. Enjoy!

Enough, Anna Mantzaris (2018 2’.22’’ )

The film captures instantly relatable moments of emotional exasperation that offer a glimpse into the anarchy of our inner desires.

 


My mother’s coat, Marie Margaux Tsakiri Scanatovits (2010, 6’,07’’)

This film is about the confessions of the filmmaker’s Italian mother about her life in Greece. It is based on an interview about motherhood in which she speaks about her arrival in post-dictatorship Greece in the 70s, her struggle to adapt, as well as her constant longing to go back home to a small town in Italy


Abeyance, Eleni Miltsi (2011, 6’ 31’’)

An old woman lives isolated and alone in an apartment building. She passes the time cleaning the house. A persistent mark on the wall, which she hadn’t noticed before, will become her obsession. Should we or should we not hold things in abeyance?



The ashes a love story as told by Stephen fry, Ir. Zhonga (2015, 1’.36’’)  

The story of The Ashes is actually a love story. Stephen Fry tells us how a perfume jar became the Small But Special symbol of the rivalry between England and Australia.

Being attached to a platform limits her in every way, allowing nothing but a single sound in her life. One day a new sound appears, and with it the desire to reach it.



My Stuffed Granny, Ef. Pappa (2014, 9' 34'')

The film focuses on the relationship between a granddaughter and her grandmother and takes an optimistic look at today’s social crisis: a little girl tries to grow seeds from food leftovers in order to feed her whole family



Icebergs, Ir. Vianelli (2018 10’)

"Icebergs" is based on Efthimi Philip's book "Scenes", is an existential, black comedy.
