A small group of indigenous women risk their lives and endure the personal cost of leadership as they struggle to stop the Dakota Access pipeline construction and defend the right to clean water for their children and future generations. A gripping account of their rise to power in the realm of social and environmental justice shows them “living their sovereignty” with resiliency and pride. This emotional film captures the essence of advocacy with one leader's recital of a Cheyenne proverb, “a nation is not defeated until the hearts of its women are on the ground”.
