Length: 90 Minutes • Location: Virtual

Instructor: Sean Mannion

This workshop will review the fundamental tools of social media influencers and content creators and the principles of storytelling leveraged by filmmakers and show how these tools and principles can inform one another. Students will be engaged in both an exploration of the technical tools available and the core principles needed to tell compelling stories in short formats. Students will be challenged to break down the distinctions between content creator and filmmaker.

Outcome: At the conclusion of the workshop students will be challenged to craft their own story leveraging the principles and tools reviewed in the workshop. Students will have two months to use those tools to make their own short (maximum length one minute) video piece and submit it to the instructor. All students who submit their work in that timeframe will receive brief feedback on their video. Select students will have their videos highlighted at the next Art of Brooklyn Film Festival.
