Redistricting isn't about lines. Redistricting is about power. Who controls that power? That's up to you.“Power Lines,” created with the support of The Carter Center, is the inspiring story of how ordinary citizens united across partisan lines to end gerrymandering in Michigan. This entertaining civics lesson offers a blueprint for a more equitable democracy, and hope that we can still come together to shape it.-In 2018, Michiganders voted to amend the state constitution, ending a system where redistricting was controlled behind closed doors. The amendment created the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission, made up of 13 citizens, which took power away from legislators and made the process fully public. The commission drew the 2022 maps, receiving over 30,000 comments, and produced some of the fairest maps in the country, reflecting the state's electorate for the first time in a generation. "Power Lines" traces this journey from the amendment's passage through its challenges in the Michigan Supreme Court.

When the world is crumbling, where to find hope? The Embrace follows 50-year-old Argentine tango teacher Carolina Pirotta as her precariously-built world is upended by the election of a right wing populist. Offering an intimate lens on a life lived amid economic turmoil, this film dives into a world of tango that refuses to be bound by tradition - examining issues of power, resistance and resilience in the process. Through tracing Carolina’s steps, it also takes the audience on a poetic journey from the neon-drenched dancehalls and protest-packed streets of Buenos Aires to the sunset-bathed mountains of Patagonia.

The Embrace

Tiny Movements is a short documentary about Jen Green, a professional modern dancer, mother of two who discovered video recordings of her husband raping her after drugging her with high doses of Ambien. The video's time stamps reflect that the abuse had been going on for over four years. She and her children escaped and filed an order of protection. Once in a safe space, she danced in her kitchen, filmed it and posted it to Social Media. She would write comments about how her body felt, fears, favorite outfits, shattered memories, any thoughts that came to mind. It became her daily meditation, a reflection and her own self-created way to heal from abuse. The project on Social Media was called “Tiny Kitchen Dances” and she danced, filmed and posted every day for three years, little by little healing and breaking isolation. This documentary is the telling of the story of her creation of the Tiny Kitchen Dances project, her healing and ongoing legal battle to protect herself and her children, the journey to put her abuser in jail all while moving forward to rebuild and thrive in her life.
