This short film examines the main problem archaeologists face in gaining a better understanding of the First Americans; the lack of stratified Paleoindian sites that contain well preserved archaeological deposits.

 The film discusses the rationale for the mechanization of archaeological testing and documents efforts to build and test the PaleoDigger machine.


ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:

Brian Fritz is the owner and principal investigator of Quemahoning LLC, a cultural resources management firm that specializes in archaeological surveys and geoarchaeological investigations.

His short documentary films highlight current problems and methods in conducting archaeological research. His films are published on his ArchaeologyX YouTube channel.
