FILM SYNOPSIS: The man of Jebel Irhoud is a new step in the African history of humanity. Its discovery (or its reinstatement) is a breakthrough and its datation of 300,000 years came out as a shock.
It definitely invalidates the consensual theory of the birth of our species (Homo Sapiens) in the East of Africa 200,000 years ago. Beyond that, it is the result of an amazing archaeological investigation: for more than a decade several works have been done in the North of Africa and their conclusions clearly suggest a new vision of the circumstances and conditions of the apparition of the Modern Man.
A new scenario that involves the whole African territory and describes a much more progressive and complex evolution we have ever imagined.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR: Olivier Julien is a French documentary director with an experience of over 10 feature-length documentaries as principal director, and dozens as a writer. His credits include the critically-acclaimed series "The Nano Revolution" and "Eternal Monuments" and recently on "Tchernobyl-Fukushima : Living with the Legacy". He recently directed two fascinating documentaries : « Homo Sapiens, the new beginning » about an archeological breakthrough that rewrite the human species origin’s scenario ; and « Auguste’s dream or modern gastronomy invention » about the extraordinary destiny of the father of every single precept in today’s « haute cuisine ». Hooked on knowledge and history, he is always looking for the hidden sense behind the beauty, whether he finds it in a city, a face or the wilderness.
