FILM SYNOPSIS: A team of Swiss archaeologists is on the trail of a mysterious Neolithic man who died on the summits of the Alps around 2800 BC.

His clothes and weapons were found in a glacier at an altitude of nearly 3000m in an exceptional state of preservation. But his body is still untraceable...

Who was this man they called Schnidi? What happened to him? Why was only his equipment found?

The archaeologists try to solve this 5000 years old cold case...


ABOUT THE DIRECTOR: Thibaud Marchand is a director, passionate about history and heritage. In 2011, he started working for the program Des Racines et des Ailes broadcasted on France 3.

Recently, he directed for them a film-event on Notre-Dame de Paris broadcast in prime time. Having filmed for two years the follow-up of the work before the fire, he was allowed to be the first camera to enter the heart of the battered cathedral with the chief architect, a few weeks after the tragedy.


Since 2013, he has also directed twelve documentaries dedicated to archaeology as part of the series "Sur nos traces" and "Enquêtes archéologiques" for the Arte channel. These films have taken him to Peru, Greenland and Easter Island. He also directed two films for the anthropology series Rituels du monde also broadcast on Arte in 2020. In 2018, he directed a 90' Easter Island, the hour of truths for the Science grand format slot on France 5. This docu-fiction, Schnidi, le fantôme du Néolithique, is his second film for this slot.
