Me and You {Ana Wa Enti}

33-year-old Amira functions as both roommate and best friend to her aging mother, Nahla. Amira, however, has reached a breaking point and seeks to carve out a space for herself between the worlds that bisect her: work, home, being Arab and American. She starts by entertaining a romance with fellow teacher, Leo, which she hides from her mother. Feeling displaced and disapproving of this, Nahla feels as though Amira is abandoning her and in turn, her Arab culture, not recognizing the burden that she places on Amira. In the end, the two must find a way to keep their relationship whole despite their differences, both recognizing that culture and tradition can be honored in different ways.
