Heurtebise
The wind blows hard in Heurtebise, Alice's home in France. This year will be her last summer and the first one for her great-grandson Dario. A life that comes to an end and another that begins. A house, three women, a baby, and the sea.
Huntsville Station
Every weekday, dozens of inmates are released from Huntsville State Penitentiary. With a bus ticket voucher and $100 release check, most of them take in their first moments out with phone calls, cigarettes, and quiet reflection at the Greyhound station up the block. In this pivotal moment, between incarceration and freedom, a myriad of complicated emotions arise before the bus arrives to take them home.

Precious Sarria and her family experienced housing insecurity for over two years. After successfully transitioning into housing, they volunteered to document their lives to raise awareness for rising homelessness in regions surrounding Silicon Valley.

Voices from real late-night phone calls are woven together to reflect on life and death from the unique perspective of those battling both insomnia and a neurological disease.

MEET THE FILMMAKER: ELISA TORRES

Elisa Torres. 1975, Valencia (Spain). Degree in Labour Studies at the University of Valencia. She has been the producer of the non-fiction feature “Holy Water”, Awarded in MiradasDoc, Las Palmas International Film Festival, Cebu Documentary (Philippines) and the Human Rights Film Festival (Bolivia). She has been the producer of the short documentary “The Russians’ Machine” nominated for the Goya Awards in the category Best Short Documentary. She has been the producer the non-fiction feature "Searching for Oscar" made its World Premiere in Berlin Critics' Week at the Berlinale 2018. “Heurtebise” is her first short film as director.


MEET THE FILMMAKER: OCTAVIO GUERRA

Octavio Guerra. 1976, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain). Graduated in Journalism at the University of Valencia, he also took the Iberoamerican Masters of Film’s and TV script writting (FIA-UIMP, 2002-2004. Valencia). His short documentary “The Russians’ Machine” has been nominated for the Goya Awards in the category Best Short Documentary. His first feature film non-fiction "Agua Bendita" has been selected at festivals such as Toulouse or Havana, and his second non-fiction feature "Searching for Oscar" made its World Premiere in Berlin Critics' Week at the Berlinale 2018. His latest non-fiction short “Apache” has been selected at the Seminci 2019.
