Ezra is excited to bring homemade latkes to class to celebrate Hanukkah during his school holiday party. The only problem is that Ezra is Black & Jewish (aka Blewish), which confuses his classmates, as they assume he should be celebrating Christmas. This confusion arises again when Ezra visits a Jewish home for a shabbat dinner, and the children there question Ezra's Jewish identity due to his Black skin. Back home and frustrated, Ezra decides to conceal his Jewish identity, as it will be easier and less confusing to others if he just lives life as people see him. But, this changes when Ezra meets two other blewish siblings struggling to find representation in books on Judaism. Ezra realizes that showing his authentic self can help others see that they're not alone either. Ezra and his family throw a party, inviting his new friends, as well as the other children. Everyone eats latkes and seeing everyone learning to accept and understand each other helps Ezra feel much more comfortable in his own skin, and he finally embraces his whole identity.
