Gregory Zinman’s recent book Making Images Move: Handmade Cinema and the Other Arts explores the world of artists who create moving image work without using photographic processes, instead directly scratching or painting on celluloid or deteriorating it with bleach or through organic processes. For this program, he presents a recorded lecture along with a selection of works, largely abstract, that trace this alternative history.
