Set in southern Arizona, twenty miles from the Mexico border on the Tohono O’odham Nation, a six-year-old Indigenous girl (Amaya Juan) discovers a Hispanic migrant her age who has lost her father while traveling through the Tohono O’odham tribal lands into the United States.

About the Director:

Selected for the Shoot New Directors Showcase in 2015, Jefferson Stein is an award-winning filmmaker based in Los Angeles. His short film, Tumble Dry Low, garnered over 2.5 million view on YouTube, becoming one of the most-watched dramatic short narrative films on the platform. His next short film, Burros, was awarded a Film Independent fiscal sponsorship and premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival. His debut feature script set in the same world as Burros, I'itoi (Man in the Maze), was named a 2020 Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting quarterfinalist by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
