Quincy Ledbetter is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker, artist, and musician originally from Woodbridge, VA. His work with BET, Paramount Players, NPR, Time, Vox, and others has earned two Edward R. Murrow Awards, a Webby, an ASME Ellie, and two Emmy nominations. He won BET and Paramount’s Project CRE8, directing his first feature, ALIEU THE DREAMER. His award-winning short THE BLACK DISQUISITION has screened at festivals and museums nationwide. Denzel Whitaker, born in Torrance, CA, is known for THE GREAT DEBATERS, BLACK PANTHER, and WARRIOR. His latest, 5150'—'which he directed, co-wrote, and stars Jovan Adepo'—'won SeriesFest’s Audience Award and was selected for Tribeca NOW. Executive produced by David Oyelowo, 5150 is currently in development as a series.
Deep Dish Dimples
Manuel Villarreal is an award-winning queer, first-generation Mexican-American writer and director based in Los Angeles. His short film Deep Dish Dimples, created through Film Independent’s Project Involve, premiered at the 2025 Slamdance Film Festival. His AFI thesis film, La Bruja, has screened at over 20 festivals across the country and won the Audience Award at the Hola Mexico Film Festival. In 2024, he directed El Colibri as part of the mitú x Walmart Filmmaking Mentorship Program, which has reached over 30,000 views on YouTube. Through his work, Villarreal weaves Latinx and LGBTQ+ narratives to remind audiences of the enduring power of magic.

Harris Doran is a Sundance, Berlin, and GLAAD Award-winning filmmaker based in NYC. He was nominated for a 2024 Film Independent Spirit Award for producing Kokomo City, which won major awards at Sundance and Berlin and is now on Showtime/Paramount+. As a writer-director, his work includes Sundance-premiering F^¢K ’€M R!GHT B@¢K (Best Comedy, Aspen Shortsfest) and 8 Minutes 20 Seconds (streaming on Omeleto). His feature Beauty Mark was shortlisted for Film Independent’s “Someone to Watch” Award. Also a performer, Harris earned a 2024 Grammy nomination for Sondheim Unplugged. He directed and co-wrote Poreless, premiering at Aspen and Tribeca 2025. Harris is currently developing multiple projects.
Tender Thoughts
Anndi Jinelle Liggett is a NYC-based filmmaker, born and raised in Virginia. Her stories often portray the magic in the mundane with a sense of heart and humor. Her Oscar-qualified short film, “Tender Thoughts”, executive produced by Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad, had its world premiere at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival. The film also screened in select theaters nationwide prior to Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Her previous short film, "Jelly", narrated by André Holland, won the Oscar-qualifying HBO Short Film Award at the 2023 American Black Film Festival and a Jury Award for Best Student Filmmaker by the Directors Guild of America.

Ifeanyi Ezieme is a DGA Award-winning filmmaker based in Altadena, California. From teaching himself animation in grade school to directing his first short film at age 12, Ifeanyi’s curiosity for visual storytelling led him to the University of Southern California, where he graduated as a George Lucas Scholar in film and television production. His films have screened at Oscar-qualifying festivals including the Pan African Film Festival and LA Shorts International Film Festival. Ifeanyi has also collaborated with companies such as Toyota, Varo and ColorCreative through Issa Rae’s “Find Your People” program. The success of his work is rooted in bridging the gap between people who are seemingly unalike, a reflection of his childhood experience of trying to find a home for his complicated identity.
