Director's Bio: Alice Gu is an award-winning director and cinematographer whose work bridges premium documentary and narrative storytelling. She began her career as a DP, collaborating with acclaimed filmmakers including Werner Herzog, Stacy Peralta, and Rory Kennedy, and shooting for major outlets and brands (including Apple and ESPN). Her feature directorial debut, The Donut King, won the SXSW Special Jury Prize for Excellence in Documentary Storytelling and went on to earn multiple Best Documentary honors, executive produced by Ridley Scott and Freida Lee Mock. She also shot the Sundance-premiering Take Every Wave: The Life of Laird Hamilton and later directed Really Good Rejects (SXSW), and is a Concordia Studios Fellow founded by Davis Guggenheim.
