Please Note: subtitles are left off as artistic intent 婦人 (Fujin) [foo-jeen] noun/plural noun, can be translated as a more formal or polite way to refer to a woman, such as “lady” or “madam” and in some contexts can mean “sisterhood” or “womenfolk.” This footage of my great-grandmother and aunties getting ready for a night out is a glimpse into femininity and womanhood among aging Asian Indigenous women, free of the western ethnographic gaze that has haunted many portrayals of bodies of color.

婦人 (Fujin)

Throughout my father's life, he struggled with a number of drug addictions, and after he unexpectedly passed away I began collecting an archive of letters, images, and recordings he left behind. The archive held a complex and revealing story of his relationship to prescription and illicit drugs, and glimmers of my distant relationship with him. It was hard seeing the story behind my father’s abuse as it reveled the man who lost himself. I began to deeply regret my own inaction and wondered what I could have done differently. This led me to consider how I might turn my distant relationship with my father, and his traumatic and sudden death into a purposeful document.

Produced from over 500 hours of intimately documented video footage of Micah's first thirty years, filmmaker Ron Taylor takes you on a journey of the heart through the reality of his son's life.&nbsp;​​​This film will positively effect popular perceptions about the quality of life for children with disabilities&nbsp;and their families. ​Ron’s 34-year documentation of his son Micah portrays a new nurturing paradigm. As important as the facts and themes in his son Micah’s development, there are lessons in human relationships that reveal a more inclusive, loving society that all parents, professionals, and educators can enjoy.&nbsp;
