Alessandro Gassmann (son of famed Jewish Italian actor Vittorio Gassman) stars as a Jewish Italian surgeon and child of Holocaust survivors whose quiet life is disrupted when he stumbles upon an accident and rushes to treat the victim. But when the good doctor discovers a Nazi tattoo on the man’s chest, he quickly abandons him. Plagued by remorse, he seeks out the Nazi’s children and forms an uneasy bond with the eldest daughter.
