Isaacs begins to shoot a film in his home, with people linked to his own life as its stars: the two English builders who are replacing his fence; his Pakistani neighbour; a homeless Slovakian, who invites himself in and tests everyone’s ideas of boundaries between host and guests; and his effusive Colombian cleaner. The multi award-winning Isaacs (LiftTravellersOutside the Court) tells stories of modern Britain through connecting with ordinary people. Blending documentary and fiction, this is a film laced with wry humour, emotional intensity and a radical curiosity, both a meditation on, and a subversion of the act of filmmaking itself.
