Three months before the couple, Hürmüz and Şimuni Diril, living in a desolate mountain village in southeastern Turkey, vanished without a trace, director Etna Özbek followed them for her short film Nosema. They were among the last Chaldean Catholics in the region. They had moved to France in the 1990’s but returned to their village. For generations their family lived on herding goats and keeping bees. Director’s camera witnesses the last week they spent with their children.

Etna ÖZBEK
Etna Ozbek has graduated from SVA on 2017 with a BFA on film/video. Her thesis film "Water, water everywhere" was a short documentary on India's water crisis, and it was screened in film festivals such as Cascadia International Women's Film Festival and Jaipur International Film Festival. Upon returning to Turkey she started the project ‘Nosema' which was awarded Special Jury Prize at 40th Istanbul Film Festival’s National Documentary Competition, and made its International Premiere at IDFA 2021’s Frontlight section.
