"’Brand New Day’ is a joyful anthem for free people. So, turn it up and sing along. Loud! Then teach it to your neighbors." - Pearl Cleage Brand New Day was birthed out of the turbulent Summer of the year 2020. The deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd, to name a few, sparked outrage in the country, our community, and our souls to such a degree that we could no longer remain silent. Using our arts for activism, recording artist Eugene IV penned a brilliant song that answered the question that is often asked, but rarely answered: What does the "The Dream" look like when fully realized? He then commissioned his frequent collaborator, Filmmaker and BronzeLens alumnus Justin Jordan to conceptualize how the song could be brought to screen and integrate the promise of post-racial Future and highlight the problems we face presently. Our collaboration birthed a musical film that has left many viewers in-tears or inspired to face the difficult state of our nation, and press on to create a long awaited "Brand New Day."
