INTRODUCING CIFF LOVE LETTERS: Valentines day has come early! We’ve thought a lot this year about how we can build connections between audience members and filmmakers within a virtual space. One of the hardest things about this year for filmmakers, is that they have not been able to forge spontaneous connections with audiences and hear from them directly. If you’ve seen a film you have loved, click HERE to write a love letter to a filmmaker!

There Will Be No More Night will screen virtually from October 2-12, 2020. This film will be only available to viewers in the United States.

Everything which produces heat shimmers from the vantage point of a warzone helicopter camera. A gunman looks through the viewfinder and struggles to identify what’s on the ground below: is it a farmer carrying a spade, or is he carrying a gun? These cameras never blink, and by default they keep track of all: the ambiguous silhouettes, the fatal decisions, and the psychological conditions dictating all of the above. Eléanor Webber’s poignant film utilizes footage from the frontlines of the French and American armies in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, and discusses their meaning with pilot Pierre V., as he examines--and admits--his emotions. This cinematic experiment unveils the darker secrets of that which can be seen through the unique lens of the military viewfinder. (MG)
