In what has been called "the perfect CB film," Mike Freed took the trail name of Loon, after the spirit of the lakes of the north. He's carried the name with him all over the country, on thousands of trail miles. In his later years, he returned home to northern Minnesota, where he cared for his property of more than 2,000 acres in the state's wilderness lake country. A revelation on the Appalachian Trail gave him clarity on what he should do with his land, and set in motion the steps needed to preserve his wilderness properties, and his legacy.
