When Archbishop Carl Bean sang the world’s first gay anthem “I Was Born This Way,” he started a movement to change the world. This powerful documentary chronicles the life of Carl Bean, the founder of the Minority AIDS project and the world’s first LGBTQ church for people of color. Using innovative rotoscope animation and featuring appearances by Lady Gaga, Questlove, Billy Porter, and Dionne Warwick, this film explores Bean’s lasting legacy and his resounding message: “Love is for everyone.”
