In this news broadcast parody, various sea creatures "strike back" against humans by subjecting them to the same problems that humans cause in the marine environment.

Coral reefs are essential to the ocean's health, and they are quickly dying. Luckily, coral farming gives reefs a chance to recover. However, we must take action against the underlying issue of Climate Change if we truly want to preserve these underwater ecosystems.

This virtual huakaʻi to Maui Ocean Center in Maʻalaea was created by three students in our Fall 2020 Huliau Environmental Filmmaking Club. The video explores the importance of coral reefs and the threats that they face.

This virtual huakaʻi to Maui Ocean Center in maʻalaea, Maui explores the importance of coral reefs and the threats that they face. Students share about how we can help protect coral reefs.

Logline: 12-year-old scuba diver Ema sets on a quest to find out why corals around the globe are dying but somehow in Hong Kong they are more resilient. Synopsis: We are the only planet with oceans, and they are indispensable for our survival. However, many people are unaware of the importance of ocean creatures and how to protect them. This is because they don’t really see them every day. Sea creatures are just lunch or dinner or an ingredient in cosmetics. Young scuba diver Ema Poposka believes if people could see the beauty of the ocean and of the corals, they will change their minds about sea protection. This inspired her to join Action for a Cause to produce a documentary film about Hong Kong corals. Ema’s aim with the documentary film made by kids is to raise awareness about the uniqueness of Hong Kong corals, the need to start taking care of corals, and how we can do this in our everyday life. This documentary was made by a crew of 12-15 year old students.

Seals and sea lions have been blamed for causing fish population collapses and for keeping fish populations for recovering. Is the blame justified, or are they being scapegoated? This film contains content that may be disturbing to some viewers including: References to animal cruelty or animal death.

Seals and Sea Lions: Scoundrels or Scapegoats?

Call for culls of seals and sea lions in Canada are increasing. Fishermen believe that culls or increased 'harvests' of these marine mammals will help fish stocks recover. Are these marine mammals scoundrels or scapegoats in the fight to save fisheries?

An artist, a fisherman and a photographer: witness to the oceans decline, compelled to take actions. Three Oceans Advocates focuses on: Tess Felix, an artist living in California; Dick Ogg, a fisherman from Bodega Bay, CA; and Barbara Crites, an underwater photographer from St John in the US Virgin Islands. Each of these individuals are taking actions that inspire hope for our ailing oceans.Our oceans are suffering from plastic pollution, climate change, acidification, and warming oceans. The ocean is lifegiving and provides over 50% of the oxygen we breathe. When our oceans suffer, we suffer. These three advocates reveal how their experiences led them to making commitments to protect the ocean and share their work with their communities. Three Ocean Advocates shows that you don’t have to be a scientist to make a difference, each individual citizen scientist can contribute to a healthy environment.

We rely on a healthy ocean for our existence. Three Ocean Advocates focuses on an artist, fisherman, and underwater photographer whose commonality is their care for the ocean. These individuals are taking actions that inspire hope for our ailing oceans.
