Salmon, reduced from a population of plentiful to pitiful, must navigate humanity’s efforts to control flow in the Pacific Northwest. The result of slowing, damming and diverting water for power and plow within the Columbia River Basin is a loss of the system’s wild tendencies to support fish. Ocean to Idaho investigates that loss by following salmon migration 850 miles from Oregon’s coast to Idaho’s wilderness. This half-hour documentary, shot solo by journalist Kris Millgate during the pandemic, highlights the people and the projects impacting salmon as they swim against the current to spawn before turning their crib into their grave. Witness the epic journey of a protected fish through eight dams, four rivers and three states as the wild tries to make its way with us in the way. Thousands of protected salmon swim 850 miles from Oregon's coast to Idaho's wilderness every summer. Only a few dozen reach the finish line. Witness their epic migration through eight dams, four rivers and three states as the wild tries to make its way with us in the way.

As the Little Conemaugh River winds through the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania, it forms the backbone of a region with a legacy of industrial might. And like a scribe, the river carries the weight of that history - mile after mile devoid of life, poisoned by toxic pollution from countless abandoned coal mines. Generations of residents and neighbors have turned their back on the river, believing the damage to be irreversible and scolding their children for playing in its orange waters. But a decade-long effort from a coalition of local groups has begun to reveal a different future for the Little Conemaugh and for other rivers in Pennsylvania and beyond that were written off as a casualty of the coal industry. A River Reborn tells the story of the rebirth of the Little Conemaugh, and what it says about our ability to fix what might have been lost forever.

A River Reborn

The Little Conemaugh River winds through Pennsylvania's Allegheny Mountains carrying the toxic legacy of a century of industry pollution. Empty of life for generations, its rebirth signals a new era for coal country and those who have depended on it.

La Rivière is a 30-minute documentary on the Rivière-des-mille-Iles, long considered to be one of the most polluted rivers in Quebec. The film presents the river through the eyes of three characters: a fisherman, a riverside couple and an environmentalist. Through the seasons, the images and stories reveal a magical river that has been overlooked and underappreciated for far too long.

La Riviere

La Rivière is a 25 minute documentary on the relationship between residents and the Milles-Iles River; once considered as one of the most polluted rivers in Quebec. The movie follows three main characters: a young fisherman youtuber, a waterfront couple and a seasoned ecology activist. Through the seasons, we discover how their relationship with the river evolved: the first encounter, awareness, fears, affection and care.

Dotted across the American Southwest, arid-land wetlands called "ciénegas" are home to endangered animals and plants found nowhere else on earth like the Pecos sunflower. However, 150 years of development, overgrazing, and climate change have made ciénegas the most endangered ecosystem of the Southwest. New Mexico State botanist, Daniela Roth, has taken up the challenge to engage city government, landowners, schools, and the community of Santa Rosa in conserving these unique wetlands and plants as part of the natural heritage and future tourism of the community. The 62 minute documentary puts ciénegas and their rare and endangered species on the map, before it's too late.

Saving Beauty: Learning to Live with the Rare Ones Among Us

New Mexico State botanist has taken up the challenge to engage city government, landowners, schools, and the community of Santa Rosa in conserving unique wetlands and endangered plants as part of the natural heritage and future tourism of the community.
