This film is an extension of an art thesis exploring how we will grieve landscapes, biomes, and eras during the ongoing climate crisis. It serves as a warning against climate misinformation, informing viewers on the connection between climate change and increased rates and intensity of wildfires. Evoking imagery of Albert Bierdstadt and Thomas Cole, we see the loss of not only biodiversity and ecosystems, but the loss of western cultural heritage that America grew from. This animated film aims to examine the beauty of wildfires in their necessity, outside of their exacerbation from climate change.
