Hoʻomalu ʻĀina Maui follows students from Kīhei Charter School as they partner with Kīpuka Olowalu on wildfire mitigation and native planting along Olowalu Stream. Through interviews with students, their teacher, Kīpuka Olowalu staff, and a PhD candidate collaborating on the project, the film highlights the importance of blending cultural knowledge, scientific research, and hands-on stewardship. This student-made documentary celebrates the power of youth learning and working alongside their community to protect and restore the Olowalu watershed.
